Home Helicopters Fleet Robinson R22

Robinson 22 Beta II

The Robinson 22 is a light, two-seater, single-piston engine helicopter manufactured by the Robinson Helicopter Company of Torrance, California. It is an extremely versatile helicopter which has revolutionised the helicopter industry. It has been under continuous development and improvement since the early seventies. The latest model has an electronic governor, rotorblade tip-weights for increased inertia and more powerful engines. During normal flight, the governor eliminates the need for throttle manipulation which dramatically reduces pilot workload, thereby increasing safety.

Large windows provide exceptional all round visibility. These features coupled with the R22’s affordability make it arguably one of the most popular helicopters across the globe.  The sensitivity of the R22’s controls can prove frustrating at first but once mastered make the R22 both fun and exciting to fly. Student pilots will undergo most of their initial training on the R22, migrating to the larger R44 for more advanced training, and ultimately to the Bell Jet Ranger for their conversion to Turbine.
